One of the best parts of being in business and in community is the people you meet along the way. About a year and a half ago, I joined the Women’s Business Network in Peterborough and that’s where I first met Adeilah Dahlke, owner of Jigsaw Organizing Solutions. From the moment I saw her mile wide smile, I knew she was someone I wanted to know. She’s warm, approachable and has a gift for making you feel instantly comfortable - exactly what you want in someone who’s about to help you tackle the chaos in your home.
When Adeilah announced a project earlier this year and asked for volunteers, I jumped at the chance. Over six days and three different projects, I got to join a rotating crew of amazing women to sort, curate, organize, and label our way through the work - and honestly, it was pure fun. There was plenty of laughter, great conversation and a real sense of teamwork as we brought order to those spaces.
What I Learned Along the Way
Spending that time with Adeilah reminded me that organizing isn’t just about “making things look pretty.” It’s about creating systems that actually work and are easy to maintain. Here are three big takeaways I brought home:
● Organizing can be joyful. With music on, friends helping, and a great leader, the process became something to look forward to, not dread.
● Labels are your best friends. Once everything had a clear home, putting things away was easy for everyone.
● Sustainability matters. Adeilah always looked for ways to repurpose or donate items so nothing useful went to waste.
Why I Recommend Jigsaw Organizing Solutions
What makes Adeilah and Jigsaw Organizing unique is her focus on sustainable, practical solutions. She doesn’t push you to buy fancy bins or create a Pinterest-perfect space that’s impossible to keep up with. Instead, she helps you use what you already have, lets you stay in control of what stays and goes and creates systems you can actually maintain.
Ready to Tame Your Own Clutter?
If you’ve been staring at that closet you can’t bear to open, or the kitchen cabinet that attacks you every time you reach for a pan, Adeilah is your girl. She offers in-home sessions, virtual organizing, downsizing help, and even photo/document digitizing - all with an eco-friendly approach that makes you feel good about the process. Adeilah is a Trained Professional Organizer with a passion for practical, eco-friendly solutions that work long after the organizing session ends. From closets and pantries to full-home overhauls, Jigsaw helps you clear what’s no longer serving you, reuse what you already have, and find new homes for unwanted items through donation, selling, or upcycling. Whether you’re preparing for a move, embracing a more minimal lifestyle, or simply craving order in your everyday routine, Jigsaw Organizing Solutions is here to guide you - at your pace, on your terms.
You can find her at Jigsaw Organizing Solutions and book a consultation to talk about your needs. Trust me - she’ll make the process easier, lighter, and maybe even fun.
I asked Adeilah to share some tips with you. See below for her words of wisdom.
1. “What’s the biggest emotional hurdle you see people face when they try to get organized?”
Usually the biggest emotional hurdle that people face is the sentimentality of items. Objects that people gave them, objects that belonged to someone who has passed away. It's important to hold onto memories that are special to us, but we don't necessarily need to hold onto that physical item. See if you can take a photo of it instead, or keep only a part of it, rather than the entire thing (to save space). Remember that you should only be holding onto items that you use and love.
2. “If someone only has one hour to make a difference in their home, where should they start?”
If you only have 1hr to work with, just start with one box or one shelf - don't pull out everything in case you run out of time. Work at it little by little. Spending 1hr a day can make a huge impact on your space! Some spaces that I like to work on for a quick job are hall closets, kitchen drawers or bookshelves/movie/music collections.
3. “What’s a common organizing myth you wish people would stop believing?”
The biggest myth that I hear is that you need a whole bunch of organizing supplies to get organized! Even if you don't have a single plastic bin or organizer, you can make a difference in your space. The most important thing to do is declutter and then see what you repurpose around the house to store/organize it.
4. “How does having an organized space impact other parts of someone’s life - like their stress levels, productivity, or relationships?”
Having an organized space impacts so many parts of your life! It helps create healthier eating habits, as the food is easier to access. It affects your relationships, as you will be more inclined to have guests over to your house. And it also has a positive impact on your stress levels and productivity, because you don't have all the visual distractions and reminders of unfinished tasks looming around every corner!
5. “What’s your favorite small-space organizing trick that anyone can do on a budget?”
For small spaces, maximizing your vertical space is very important! Using hooks to make things more visual inside cupboards can be very impactful. Adjust your shelves in cupboards or shelving units if possible, to make the most of your space.
